Infrared Radiation
Infrared radiation is invisisble to the naked eye, it is part of the electromagnetic spectrum which is just beyond visible red light. Infrared radiation can travel through a vacuum as it is transmitted via electromagnetic waves. We can feel infrared radiation through the skin as heat, all objects emit infrared radiation and the warmer the object the more infrared radiation it will emit.
Absorbing and reflecting infrared radiation
As with visible light infrared radiation is reflected by light shiny surfaces and is absorbed by dark matt surfaces. On the flip side dark matt surfaces can emit infrared radiation much quicker than light shiney surfaces. |
